Technical Support Help Sheet 073
SUBJECT: Logitech Scanner Software with Windows 3.0
Problem: The software does not work under Enhanced Mode
Solution:
The Logitech Scanner software utility for Windows (WSCAN.EXE) was designed
for Windows 2.x. At this time the WSCAN.EXE will work ONLY under REAL mode.
Logitech is working on an upgrade to this software which will be available
later this year. All registered users will be informed when this package
becomes available.
The paint program, PaintShow Plus (PSPLUS.EXE) will work as a DOS application
under Real mode also.
Note: The PaintShow program seem to work fine under the Standard Mode if
there is some Extended memory and by adding the following line to SYSTEM.INI:
DMABufferSize=80

SUBJECT: Logitech Serial Mouse with Windows 3.0
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROBLEM # 1: Mouse does not work, no mouse pointer visible
SOLUTION:
1. Run SETUP and select "Logitech Serial Mouse"
2. Reboot your system with NO Memory Resident Software
3. Load Logitech Mouse Driver
The following commands should be used for loading the mouse driver for
Logitech Serial mice:
If the mouse is on COM1 use the command: MOUSE SER
If the mouse is on COM2 use the command: MOUSE SER 2
4. Run Windows
Relationship between MOUSE.COM and WINDOWS 3.0:
Mouse.Com is not needed to run the mouse with Windows. Mouse.com should be
loaded in the memory if you are using some application under DOS. We do
recommend you to load our driver before you run Windows.
PROBLEM # 2: Mouse works with all the other Software except Windows 3.0
(assuming that a right selection was made under Windows for the Mouse)
SOLUTION:
1. Switch of the Machine and then take out all the devices in your machine
like Internal Modem, Fax Cards, Tape backup units etc. This should eliminate
an IRQ conflict.
2. Follow Steps 1 - 4 from Problem # 1.
3. If the steps 1 & 2 have been verified, yet the mouse is not responding in
Windows, please reconfigure Windows for the Mouse Systems Mouse. After
saving the configuration, load the mouse driver as MOUSE PC for COM 1 or
MOUSE PC 2 for COM 2.

4. Inspect the serial board for any chipset that is under the company name
of WINBOND. If this condition is true, try using another serial card without
the WINBOND chip and reconfigure Windows for the Logitech Serial Mouse.
SUBJECT: Logitech Bus and PS/2 Mouse with Windows 3.0
PROBLEM # 1: Mouse does not work, no mouse pointer visible
SOLUTION:
1. Run SETUP and select "Logitech Bus and PS/2 Mouse"
2. Reboot your system with NO Memory Resident Software
3. Load Logitech Mouse Driver
4. Run Windows
PROBLEM # 2: Mouse does not work with 3 buttons with Windows 3.0, it used
to work with the previous version
SOLUTION:
In Windows 2.x the LMOUSE.DRV file used to drive all the Logitech Mice so
it supported all 3 buttons. In Windows 3.0, if you select Logitech Bus and
PS/2 mouse, Microsoft Mouse driver MOUSE.DRV is being used, since all
Microsoft mice has only 2 buttons so this particular driver will support
only 2 buttons.
